To be blunt, autocorrect sucks.
I’m talking mostly about the autocorrect on my iPhone when I talk about my frustration with this supposed “tool.” I’m an English major so don’t get me wrong, I appreciate when it tries to capitalize the beginning of every sentence, but when I’m texting my friends, I don’t need to be so formal.
Hi Mags what’s up? suddenly turns into-
Hello, Maggie. How are you doing on this fine day?
The time that it takes to fix the mistakes it makes defeats the purpose of this tool being a timesaver for people. It is simply annoying. Another thing that really grinds my gears is that it tries to pick up trends in my typing. Woah autocorrect, you don’t know me that well.
JUST BECAUSE I CAPITALIZED “YAY!” ONE TIME IN A TEXT DOES NOT MEAN I AM CONSTANTLY SCREAMING! Please, just don’t try anymore, autocorrect.
Spellchecker is also a nuisance when it comes to word processor. In 2015, with the rate that technology is advancing, you would think that spellcheck would be smart enough to understand my words in context.
No, word, I did not want to say “piece of mind” as in I’m going to eat a piece of my mind like a slice of cake. This is something that seriously needs to be improved upon.
I get that technology is trying to fix the flaws of the human race but sometimes it makes me feel good to not always be a grammar nazi. I get that enough writing my analytical papers.
