Affordances
Simple navigation: A menu bar lines the top of the application with well defined tabs such as “File,” “New,” “Edit,” and “Help.” This makes is easier for users to refer to as all of the functions of this tool are clearly labeled and located there.
Customization: Essentially any event you can think of can be transformed into an animated, multimedia scenario. From the Boston Tea Party to your morning route to class, this tool provides it all for unique presentations. There is a preloaded bank of icons as the image below shows, but users can also upload their own icons from personal files or the web where they will be stored under the “My Icons” tab for future use on any project. The options are endless.
Collaboration: Scenarios can be shared with other individuals using permalinks. To do so, simply click, “File” on the toolbar then “Permalink” to copy and paste copy and edit or read only links. Or, simply copy the code provided to embed your scenarios onto a website. Changes made to shared scenarios using the permalink will not affect the original copy that the author has created.
Helpful tutorials: The interface provides how-to tutorials to guide users every step of the way. From the very beginning, creating a scenario, to uploading your final scenario, and everything in between like creating events, there is a video linked to YouTube to help.
Free: History in Motion is free. Simply create an account then dive right in to the nearly endless possibilities for scenario creation this interface has to offer. There is no set limit on the number of scenarios users can create. Only your imagination could limit you with this tool.
