What is History in Motion?
History in Motion is an online tool that offers powerful, easy-to-use features so anyone can create historical scenarios, animate events, share their work with others, and explore history in a way that was never before possible. Essentially, anyone with access to the web can utilize this interface to create and share multimedia, animated historical scenarios without having to know programming, graphics, animation, or digital cartography.
This interface was created to remedy the shortcomings of Google Earth in that there was no user interface to create and edit historical scenarios for education and recreational purposes.
The goals of History in Motion are:
- To improve the teaching, learning, and experiencing of history for everyone from grade-school students to lifelong learners.
- To build a Wikipedia-like community of history enthusiasts who create, exchange, and discuss historical scenarios.
